Dr. Ajay Dhingra

A leader in the Connecticut dental community for over 15 years, Dr. Ajay Dhingra brings more than two decades of experience in advanced restorative and implant dentistry to Smiles Redefined.
After completing specialty training in Prosthodontics and a Master of Science in Oral Biology at Rutgers, Dr. Dhingra spent over 16 years on the faculty at UConn School of Dental Medicine as Clinical Professor and Clinical Director of University Dentists.
He currently serves as President of the Connecticut Section of the American College of Prosthodontists and Vice-Chair of its Education Foundation. Repeatedly recognized as a Connecticut Magazine Top Dentist, Dr. Dhingra combines clinical precision with personalized treatment planning to deliver functional, aesthetic smiles designed around each patient’s needs.

Board-Certified Periodontist
Dr. Sejal Thacker, a board-certified Periodontist and Master of Dental Science, directs the post-graduate Periodontology program at UConn Health and runs a private clinical practice in Connecticut. Recognized as a "Top Dentist in Connecticut" by her peers since 2016, she graced the cover in 2018. Her accolades include the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation’s
Outstanding Teaching and Mentoring Awards (2015, 2019) and the prestigious Bud and Linda Tarrson Fellowship (2020). Named a rising star by the AAP in 2018, Dr. Thacker is an ITI Fellow and leads an ITI study club and the National Osteology Group USA. She has contributed to numerous clinical trials and publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Consultation and Planning
We'll assess your oral health, discuss your goals, and use advanced 3D imaging to create your custom implant roadmap.
You'll leave with a clear understanding of your options, timeline, and costs.

Implant Placement
When you lose a tooth, you also lose the roots that keep it in place. Your doctor will add a small, screw-like post made of titanium into your jaw bone.
This acts like the root of your missing tooth.

Take Time to Heal
Over the course of several months, your jaw bone will grow around the titanium post, holding it firmly in place.
This will keep your jaw strong and prevent it from deteriorating over time.

Add the Crown
After your jaw heals, your doctor will attach a new, custom-made tooth to the post — this is called a crown.
The crown will be shaped and colored to perfectly match your other teeth.
If you wait, treatment may not be possible...
Jaw bone begins to weaken
Without a tooth root's stimulation, your jaw bone begins to shrink immediately after tooth loss. This can make future implant placement difficult or even impossible.
Teeth shift out of place
The gap left by your missing tooth allows surrounding teeth to move. This shift can complicate future implant placement and cause severe bit issues.
